For the first time ever, the FIFA World Cup final will have a halftime show. Given the popularity of the event, some massive acts have been listed for the occasion. The show will be co-headlined by Madonna, BTS, and Shakira. FIFA has also revealed that characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets will be part of the show.

The event is being produced by Global Citizen and curated by Chris Martin of Coldplay, who previously collaborated on the Club World Cup final in summer 2025. The lineup was announced in a video starring Martin himself alongside Elmo. The effort will spotlight FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative aiming to raise $100 million to expand access to quality education and soccer opportunities for children around the world.

“I’ve spent my life doing two things—making songs and building schools,” Shakira says via a press release. “At the FIFA World Cup, those two paths come together. Standing alongside Madonna and BTS, I’ll be performing ‘Dai Dai,’ the song I created for this World Cup and for the kids around the world we will reach with the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. My hope is that on the world’s biggest stage, the importance of investing in children’s education steals the show!”

While musical performances have long taken place at the World Cup final, these are usually held before the start of the match, keeping halftime to a strict 15 minutes. The inclusion of this sort of spectacle has raised eyebrows among fans, who worry that a show of this size may break momentum and serve as a push to “Americanize” this global tournament, making it similar to the NFL Super Bowl halftime show.

The FIFA World Cup final is taking place on July 19 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, at MetLife Stadium—which has been temporarily renamed New York/New Jersey Stadium during the latter tournament due to FIFA stadium sponsorship regulations. Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) just completed its milestone 30th anniversary festival, proving that even after three decades, it’s still as thrilling as ever. From May 15 to May 17, 2026, organizer Insomniac welcomed more than 500,000 attendees—known as Headliners—all of whom gathered for three days and nights to celebrate music, art, and community under one Electric Sky.

This year’s event was centered on immersion, building on past themes like kineticMETROPOLIS in 2025. For 2026, Headliners united under kineticJOURNEY, which looked both forward and backward—it was a tribute to the path the festival has been on, and will continue, for years to come.

The theme was evident through both its layout and offerings. During EDC, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway was a vibrant, glittering city with drone shows, carnival rides, casino-style games, and incredible sculptures. The “roads,” like Kinetic Trail, Memory Lane, and Electric Avenue, led to different enclaves that hosted these experiences alongside live music.

EDC is, in part, about its musical performances, and the artists took to different stages throughout the festival. More than 200 acts performed, with some standouts including Zedd, FISHER, and Kaskade, alongside Tiesto, The Prodigy, and Martin Garrix. They graced newly designed platforms for 2026, adding an electrifying combination of sculpture, music, and lights to every set.

Leading up to the opening of EDC was the first-ever edition of World Party Parade on the Las Vegas Strip. It was a free and all-ages event that transformed the iconic street into a “celebration of love, unity, and dance music culture,” with performers, art cars, and, of course, moving sound systems.

For EDC fans who wanted to live, eat, and sleep the festival for all three days, there was a home base: Hotel EDC at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas. Produced by Insominac and Vibee, it encapsulated the spirit of the event, boasting specially decorated rooms and poolside DJs enjoyed alongside other Headliners.

Eugene Kim, co-founder and editor-in-chief at My Modern Met, attended the event and says, “EDC 2026 was an unforgettable experience. I was blown away by the world-class talent, but what stood out just as much was the incredible sense of community. Combined with the immersive stage design and spectacular visuals, it truly felt like a feast for the eyes and an experience that engaged all the senses.”

EDC is only growing. For 2027, it’s planning for two consecutive weekends across 12 days. The first weekend is going to be called “EDC Dusk,” happening from May 14 to May 16, while the second weekend is “EDC Dawn” from May 21 to May 23. When attending a multi-day music festival, sometimes you just want to keep the party going. Part of the fun of festivals is how immersive they are. You are listening to music all day long and experiencing it alongside strangers who might become friends. Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) just concluded its 30th anniversary with dance music, art, and community. While you couldn’t sleep at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway (where it was hosted), there was the next best thing: Hotel EDC at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

Hotel EDC began on May 15, 2026. Vibee, a music-led destination experience company, organized the weekend alongside Insomniac, the producer of EDC. Just like the festival itself, the stay was designed to feel unmistakably EDC coded, beginning the moment guests arrived. Walking into the hotel lobby, colorful swirling visuals immediately set the tone, creating the feeling of stepping into an extension of the festival itself, where the mood was upbeat and anticipation was high.

That immersive approach continued through check-in. Guests received complimentary Headliner Party Packs filled with limited-edition merchandise and accessories that reinforced the playful spirit of the weekend. Among the items were colorful Hotel EDC robes, hats, cups, and coasters, turning simple keepsakes into memorable details that extended the festival atmosphere beyond the speedway.

The immersion carried into the rooms themselves. Guests stayed in spaces outfitted with custom EDC decor, including themed bedding and design details that transformed returning to the hotel into part of the event rather than simply winding down for the night.

Beyond the rooms and gifts, Hotel EDC had something happening throughout the day. Pool parties ran Friday through Sunday and became social hubs where DJs kept the energy high as guests danced, relaxed, and cooled off between festival nights. Guests looking for a more elevated setting could enjoy dedicated VIP viewing areas that offered additional space and comfortable sightlines overlooking the performances.

Programming also emphasized wellness, beauty, and community building. Yoga flows, beauty bars, and even speed dating gave Headliners opportunities to connect before heading out each evening. One standout was Headliners HQ, where guests could get their hair styled, make kandi bead bracelets, and spend time connecting with fellow festivalgoers. Moments like these made Hotel EDC feel less like accommodations and more like an active extension of the event itself.

Just like the festival itself, Vibee put together a stay that was EDC coded—even down to the hotel room. Guests who checked in slept in rooms that were outfitted in EDC decor.

Pool parties happened Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but there were other events on the schedule that focused on wellness, beauty, and forming community.

Music festivals wouldn’t be the same without the incredible stages that not only host the artists, but also create immersive experiences for the audience. For Coachella, Los Angeles-based creative studio Do LaB—founded by brothers Josh, Jesse, and Dede Flemming—creates environments that merge art, architecture, and music. Unlike the festival’s main stages, Do LaB’s distinct spaces are more intimate, built around emerging acts and spontaneous performances.

At this year’s Coachella, Do LaB created a large-scale installation called Macrodose. The immersive piece featured a network of organic, pod-like forms that came together to form a continuous canopy overhead. Instead of a conventional stage, it acted as a walk-through environment, designed to be experienced from different angles and viewpoints.

Macrodose featured huge cantilevered arms extending up to 50 feet overhead, with the engineering hidden beneath more than 1,600 custom-fabricated panels. The pod-like forms were inspired by mushrooms and coral reefs, and were designed to respond to wind and other natural elements. Lighting and atmospheric elements were built directly into the organic-like structures, allowing the atmospheric environment to transform from day to night.

Even after two decades of designing stages, Do LaB’s work is still evolving. The family-run company treats each new project as a chance to experiment, and to explore new ideas in form, materials, and how spaces connect with music and audiences. Do LaB says, “The goal is to create environments that feel immersive, kinetic, and emotionally engaging—spaces where experience itself becomes the artwork.”

Beginning September 5, 2026, the Bumbershoot Arts and Music Festival returns to the Seattle Center under the iconic Space Needle. For two days, the site in Lower Queen Anne comes alive with music and art. This year’s edition features musical performances by Turnstile, Death Cab for Cutie (a local band), Japanese Breakfast, Orville Peck, Peaches, and much more. While the music is a draw, Bumbershoot also boasts a bevy of visual arts and cultural programs spanning comedy, film, dance, fashion, and more.

The massive programming unfolds over a 74-acre campus as a multidisciplinary celebration of creative expression. It’s divided into sections corresponding to different art disciplines, along with some events held off-site. The Fashion District, for instance, will feature original runway presentations from more than five local clothing designers, alongside a merchant marketplace that’ll spotlight 15 regional vendors.

Those who love action sports will want to traverse the Recess District. It’s planning BMX programming, with a “participatory spectacle” aspect to its entertainment that includes the Dope Planet Evening Spectacular. And while not extreme sports, Bumbermania! offers another form of sports spectacle, this time in high-energy wrestling showcases. It also features roaming performers, carnival-style slideshows, and other interactive elements alongside a puppet playhouse in a geodesic dome.

The Fisher Rooftop is where attendees can enjoy Bumbershoot’s interdisciplinary dance and composition program. There will be live performances featuring dance groups and composers, as well as Motley Zoo, with its popular Cat Circus returning for the fourth year, featuring a troop of felines—all up for adoption. Watch even more performances with VIDEORAMA: Northwest Shorts, a new program in 2026. It’s hosted at the nearby Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) and features all-day screenings celebrating indie Northwest filmmaking.

Also off-site is PROTEST! at A/NT Gallery. Presented in collaboration with History Link and Cannonball Arts, it spans more than a century of activism and civil disobedience in Seattle from 1919 to 2026. The show explores Seattle’s evolving history of protest movements and the collective action taken by its residents.

The address 3 Savile Row may not sound familiar to the general public, but it’s a building that Beatles superfans know all too well. On January 30, 1969, the Fab Four took to its rooftop to perform what would be their final public show—only to be cut short by the police due to complaints about the noise and traffic disruption. Now, Apple Corps, the company that safeguards the band’s legacy, has reacquired 3 Savile Row and plans to turn it into a Beatles-themed visitor attraction.

“We’re thrilled to bring Apple Corps back to its spiritual home and give The Beatles fans something truly special,” said Apple Corps’ CEO Tom Greene via a press release. “Every single day, fans are taking pictures of the outside of 3 Savile Row—but next year they can go in and explore all seven floors of the iconic building, including the rooftop where even the railings remain the same from that famous day in 1969.”

The seven-story building will become the ultimate stop for Beatles fans visiting London. Among its amenities, 3 Savile Row will host never-before-seen content straight from Apple Corps’ archives, as well as temporary exhibits and a recreation of the original studio where Let it Be (The Beatles’ final studio release) was recorded. Fans will also have the chance to visit the rooftop where the world-famous final concert took place.

Among the first people to be able to tour the recently repurchased building were the two surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. The two shared their feelings of nostalgia upon their return to the building that saw the final days of the band, as depicted in Peter Jackson’s Get Back documentary series.

“It was such a trip to get back to 3 Savile Row recently and have a look around,” said McCartney. “There are so many special memories within the walls, not to mention the rooftop. The team have put together some really impressive plans and I’m excited for people to see it when it’s ready.” Meanwhile, Starr simply stated, “Wow, it’s like coming home.”

The Beatles at 3 Savile Row is due to launch in 2027, and you can sign up to get news on the project at the project’s website. If you’d like to have your Beatles itch scratched before then, McCartney is releasing his new album The Boys of Dungeon Lane on May 29. On top of featuring songs reflecting on his time with The Beatles, it will also feature his first ever duet with Starr in a single titled “Home To Us.”

While many musicians dream of performing on the world’s biggest stages, Swiss artist To Athena (Tiffany Athena Limacher) recently fulfilled a very different kind of ambition: singing inside a glacier. In March 2026, she and her band—featuring two violinists, a cellist, and a keyboard player—joined Greenpeace on an expedition to the Morteratsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps. They performed her song “Collide” inside a frozen cave carved in the glacier.

Shaped by flowing, melting water, the ice caves of the Morteratsch Glacier are fleeting spaces among a landscape that’s constantly changing. Scientists believe the glacier is shrinking rapidly, by around 50 meters (about 164 feet) a year, and the cave itself is unlikely to survive another summer as temperatures continue to rise.

“The natural world is delicate, and we are not separate from it,” says the band. “When we push beyond planetary boundaries, we disrupt the balance that sustains all life.” To Athena’s song “Collide” reflects this too, exploring burnout and what it feels like to be pushed to your limits.

“ Singing ‘Collide’ here was a very intense feeling for me because I wrote ‘Collide’ when I had like a burnout and it meant a lot to me,” reveals Limacher. “Somehow it matched the message and the mood so much that I really felt so free singing this song here.” The artist adds, “ We’re so grateful that we were able to, to go up here and see this magical place before it is vanished. So we are still overwhelmed and so thankful.”

Limacher hopes that her stunning performance will inspire people around the world to join Greenpeace in protecting the beauty and the future of our planet.

Thanks to Purple Rain, the color purple has forever become embedded with the legacy of Prince. But if you pay closer attention to the late singer’s repertoire, you’ll notice that there are dozens of color and visual references, reflecting the many sounds this genre-defying artist experimented with. To mark the 10th anniversary of his passing, graphic design studio Dorothy compiled these “colors of Prince” in a stylish poster.

“Our new special edition print celebrates his colorful music and character with the usual Dorothy twist,” says the company. The poster features 66 of these color-inspired references, from Prince’s very own Pantone shade (Love Symbol #2) to direct nods in songs like “Raspberry Beret” and “Little Red Corvette.” There are also references to albums, like The Black Album and Crystal Ball, as well as his beloved Cloud guitar.

The print also features varying shades of purple—obviously. There’s Purple Rain, a direct reference to the song and film; My Purple Life, found in the “Erotic City” lyrics; Purple Medley, a single from 1985; Purple House, his Jimmy Hendrix tribute cover; and The Purple One, his nickname.

The Colors of Prince is a high-resolution fine art digital print brought to life with a 9-ink printer and printed on 165gsm matte art paper. It measures 50 x 70 centimeters (19.7 x 27.6 inches), so it would surely look nice next to some gig posters. To mark the 10th anniversary of Prince’s passing, graphic design studio Dorothy created a stylish poster of the color references in his work.

The poster features 66 of these color-inspired references.

There are direct nods to songs like “Raspberry Beret” and “Little Red Corvette.”

The poster also includes Prince’s nickname “The Purple One” and his very own Pantone shade “Love Symbol #2.”

Before Coachella became the trendiest musical festival on Earth among Gen Z, its lineup looked quite different. Coachella was the place to see the most talked-about rock and indie bands of the aughts, with innovative electronic and hip hop sprinkled in here and there. This spirit seemed to briefly return to Coachella on Friday night, when musician Moby gave us one of the most memorable moments of the festival with an electrifying performance of his 2000s hit “Natural Blues.”

The song heavily features samples of the song “Trouble So Hard” by late American folk singer Vera Hall. To give the Coachella performance the same sort of depth and energy, Moby brought out singer Jacob Lusk. The performer, who is part of the group Gabriels and finished in fifth place on the 10th season of American Idol, elevated the sung parts of the track with his rich, mesmerizing voice. Rather than playing the original, more mellow version of the tune, Moby went with the 2019 BLOND:ISH remix of “Natural Blues,” turning the Mojave Stage into a full on reverie.

This wasn’t the first time the pair worked together. Lusk also joined Moby on stage to play their reimagined version of “When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die,” released earlier this year, and which spawned a remixes album featuring a dozen different versions. “This new version of ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like to Die’ with Jacob Lusk from Gabriels is just so beautiful,” Moby wrote on social media. “I first heard Jacob sing a few years ago and immediately fell in love with his voice.”

Lusk, who commanded the Coachella crowd like the great singers of yesteryear, posted about the response to this the moment on Instagram: “Completely overwhelmed from all the kindness I’ve gotten over the last few days. Thank you so much to Mr. Moby, the whole band and crew for letting me sing with y’all. This past weekend Coachella was just special. There was so much love in that tent and on that stage. I’ve often felt alone, afraid, awkward, and wondered if I was in the right place. These last few days have reminded me there’s a place for everyone, including me.”

As for Moby, he has announced that he will donate 100% of his profits from performing at Coachella to animal rights organizations, a cause dear to his heart since the beginning of his career. “My main job in life is working as an animal rights activist,” Moby said, “and to that end my hope is to use the revenue and attention from my Coachella show to draw attention to, and financially support, animal rights organizations.”
